Wasted Moon

Wasted moon,

I saw the white of your grey eyes

Maybe they were rolling

As I ran from your sight

But changing your view

Others are dancing beneath you

On green grass on the other side

What a wasted moon

Your hungry gaze casts such shadows

Darkness is a blanket

When the city goes quiet

But you dig for the truth

Staring through rainy night windows

At the glow from my shy candlelight

I can’t believe anymore

Or walk out my door

When blood runs as fast as the pace

I built this insulation

But some good it does

Leaving me cold and numb

What have I done?

All those wasted moons

Closing the blind I’d feel safer

Light is from the living

And no stars here to see

Caught the last glimpse of you

Moving behind the skyscrapers

Full of those so much better than me

I don’t believe anymore

The child has got lost

Stripped of the veils of my faith

I built this insulation

But some good it does

Laying here cold and numb

What have I done?

All those wasted moons...
